Fonomarae

Fonomarae is the name given originally to Pacific Fellowship gathering of

Pioneers and younger Leaders.

It is a combination of

FONO - a Samoan word meaning "getting together" or "meeting"

and

MARAE - a Maori word for "meeting place"

Today the term Fonomarae (Fono for short) is used for gatherings of

Pioneers and young Leaders Internationally and Nationally.

Fonomarae's in Australia are held every two years.

The last one was in Adelaide in January 2006

and

the next one January 2008 will be held in Melbourne Victoria
